Project 2

final piece
Descriptive and Interpretive Paragraph
I did this piece to go along with the quote in the negative space. I thought that the bottles would represent that poison doesn't have to look like poison to be poison. Like how things don't have to look like they're going to be something they'll turn into. I did the skull blue to represent that toxins and that when they have a point they're noticeable but not destructive. But poison that's just poison will only be destructive. I also added the arrow to separate the piece for symmetry and just because I like arrows.
Analysis Paragraph
I think that this piece has symmetry because the skulls are divided and because the arrow comes down the middle to kind of show the line of symmetry. I also think that the words add to the balance and add to the symmetry. I also think it has a lot of contrast when looking at the pitch black sharpie over the valued coloured pencil. And with the white words on the black background.
Medium Paragraph
For this piece I used mixed media. I started off with the coloured pencil for the skulls and the bottles. I did the cloth next also in coloured pencil to give it a base. I started doing the black background in sharpie and then I added the arrow in coloured pencil to give the piece something else to center it. Then after I filled in the black background I added my own quote in sharpie paint.
Self Reflection Paragraph
I really like this piece because I created it to go along with something else I made. and it really just feels like all mine and it's kinda cool. I wish I did a better job on the blue skull because I feel like its not proportionate with the pink skull and they're too different styles but the different styles also plays into the meaning behind them but for the sake of looking at it I feel like it would have looked better if it was all the same style. I also wish I would have wrote what I did a lot better because its off and crooked and I have bad handwriting. But I do like it.
